Ceramic Bowl

In my first semester of Junior year I am taking an art class called Intro to Visual Arts. In this class we explore all areas and concepts of art. For one of our projects we looked at ceramics. In this we made a ceramic bowl. We toke a paper template that we cut out and created this bowl. We had the freedom to connect the sides however we wanted as long as it ended up as a bowl. I knew in this project I would be giving it to my mom once it was done. I thought of ways it could resemble me or shows things that would would remind my mom of me. We also chose a pattern to imprint on the outside of our bowl. Once we did that we scored and slipped the edges to combine the sides and make it a bowl. As I did this I thought of quotes or words that I could put inside the bowl. I put the phrase ‘Stay Strong’ and my confirmation verse reference ‘Jeremiah 29:11’.  I chose a matte glaze for the outside of the bowl which you can see is a teal color, also my favorite color. On the inside I tried to find the same color just in a glossy finish. This was probably my favorite project we did just because I like doing ceramics and you get to create something from scratch and make something your own. I also love the glazing part because I love to paint and do those kind of things.
